Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 19, 2026

Who we are

Convitsa is a Shopify-native app ecosystem that builds conversion tools for Shopify merchants. Our first product is Searchly. This privacy policy explains how Convitsa and its apps collect, use, and protect data from merchants and their customers.

Our website is convitsa.com. For any privacy-related questions, contact us at privacy@convitsa.com.

What data we collect

From merchants (store owners who install our apps):

Shopify store URL and store name

Merchant name and email address provided during app installation

Shopify account data accessed through the Shopify API including products, collections, and store settings

App usage data including dashboard activity, quiz configurations, and notification preferences

Billing information processed through Shopify's billing system (we do not store card details directly)

From shoppers (customers visiting a merchant's store):

Search queries entered by shoppers that returned zero results

Email addresses voluntarily submitted through the Searchly quiz and lead capture form

Quiz answers selected by shoppers

Product clicks and interactions within the Searchly overlay

Restock alert opt-ins where shoppers request to be notified when a product becomes available

Automatically collected data:

Browser type and device information

IP address (used for analytics only, not stored against individual profiles)

Pages visited and session activity on the merchant's storefront where Searchly is active

How we use this data

Merchant data is used to:

Operate and deliver the Searchly app functionality

Display the merchant dashboard with leads, analytics, and search insights

Send transactional and onboarding emails (welcome, daily reports, weekly summaries, lead notifications)

Process billing through the Shopify Billing API

Improve app performance and fix issues

Shopper data is used to:

Display personalized product recommendations after a quiz is completed

Store captured leads in the merchant's Searchly dashboard

Send restock alerts to shoppers who explicitly opted in (only if the merchant configures this feature)

Generate anonymized, aggregated analytics about search behavior across the platform

We do not sell shopper data to any third party. We do not use shopper data for advertising. Shopper emails captured through Searchly belong to the merchant — we store them on behalf of the merchant and make them available for export.

How we share data

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal data.

We share data only in the following circumstances:

Shopify — as required to operate within the Shopify App Store ecosystem and billing infrastructure

Service providers — we use trusted third-party services to operate our infrastructure including cloud hosting and email delivery. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements

Legal requirements — we may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users

Data storage and security

All data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access to merchant and shopper data is restricted to authorized Convitsa team members only.

We retain merchant data for as long as the app is installed on the store. When a merchant uninstalls a Convitsa app, we delete their store data within 48 hours in compliance with Shopify's data deletion requirements.

Shopper email data captured through Searchly is retained for as long as the merchant's account is active. Merchants can delete individual leads or export and clear all leads at any time from their dashboard.

Your rights

As a merchant you have the right to:

Access all data we hold about your store

Export your leads and store data at any time

Request deletion of your account and all associated data

Update your notification preferences at any time from your dashboard

As a shopper whose email was captured through Searchly you have the right to:

Request access to the data held about you

Request deletion of your email and associated data

Opt out of restock alerts at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@convitsa.com. We will respond within 5 business days.

Cookies

Convitsa apps may use cookies or local storage on the merchant's storefront to remember shopper preferences within a session. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising purposes. No cross-site tracking is performed.

Third-party services

Our apps may integrate with or recommend third-party services such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or other email marketing platforms. When a merchant exports leads to a third-party tool, that tool's own privacy policy applies to the data from that point forward. Convitsa is not responsible for how third-party services handle exported data.

Children's privacy

Our apps are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through one of our apps, contact us at privacy@convitsa.com and we will delete it immediately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes we will notify active merchants via email or through an in-app notification. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
